Today, we had a memorable and fun session chatting with Mayor Ken Johnston of Red Deer about the MFC Olympics. Joining us at the session were Ms. Caroline Johnston and Ms. Rachelle Sauvegeau.
After a brief introduction about how we conduct the Mini MFC Olympics pilots at two Red Deer schools, they joined us in building some MFC units. Mayor Johnston built his unit adding only water to the soil and “christened” it “Red Deer #01”. Ms. Sauvageau added some apple juice with the water to the soil for her MFC unit. Keeping up with the spirit of the MFC Olympics, Mayor Johnston and Ms. Sauvageau will have a friendly competition to see which MFC would blink first.
At the end of the session, Mayor Johnston presented us with a hamper of delicious delicacies made in Red Deer including a book on the history of Red Deer. He also invited us back to Red Deer to view their state-of-the-art Waste Water Management facilities.
We are truly humbled that Mayor Johnston took time from his busy schedule to meet with us and continue to encourage us to aim higher. It was our meeting with Mayor Johnston in October 2023, that inspired us to launch the new MFC Play in our 2025 MFC Games. Thank you, Mayor Johnston!
