We are so pleased to learn that we were successful in receiving the 2024 A+ for Energy Grant again. The grant will help us to launch the Mini MFC Olympics and the new MFC Coaching program next year. The Mini MFC Olympics is a shorter version of the main MFC Olympics, containing all the key elements such as building and experimenting with the MFCs. The new MFC Coaching will be supporting students in previous MFC Olympics in running their own workshops. Each coach will be provided with guidance, presentation materials, and supplies needed to run their workshops, including the MFC kits.
Yesterday, Justin and Aaron met with Mr. Steve McIssac and Ms. Kathryn Wagner at the 2024 Emerald Awards ceremony. Ms. Wagner is the Executive Director of Inside Education and Mr. McIssac was their Executive Director until recently. During their chat, they learned that the results of the 2024 A+ for Energy grant were recently announced. Then Ms. Wagner informed them the MFC Initiative was one of the 30 recipients after receiving top marks from their panel of judges. What an amazing way to receive this wonderful news!
We are truly grateful to Inside Education for their generosity and endorsement of the MFC Initiative. We also want to thank Ms. Kerry Blum (Principal) and Mr. Denzil Mackrory (STEM Director) from STEM Innovation Academy for supporting and partnering with us on the application of the A+ for Energy grant.
